Here is the owner of the ass;...Tucker Tech....mooning ON THE LEAD.....extra style points....Tucker Tech ......only Tucker and Ron Kauk have been on the cover of climbing magazine 3 times each....a distinction only they share.......but you haven't seen Ron Kauk's ass...and you have Tuckers.....lucky you....This climb is a new route we had just completed....I had just finished drilling the bolts, and when it was Tucker's turn to climb...he pulled the rope to lead the climb....It was called The Howling Monkey (5.7).....it's a very cool climb in a very secret location......

First Ascent of Col. Flagg (5.10-).........another unclimbed crack....maybe 15 min. from the road.....(Resa and Tucker top roped this climb...I didn't climb it this day;.....the crack ran out and it needed 2 bolts near the top....I came back later, lead the crack, drilled 2 bolts , and finished the climb.....also put in a pin at the bottom for the crack had funny pro in one spot.......that is why you see a top rope in this picture...

Love the name, Todd, because, obviously, there is a cute little bush. I love seeing plants on routes. Especially the tiny flowers that grow in what seems an uninhabitable space. They remind me of me. Ah, flowers ... ah, seemingly uninhabitable space ...

Almost 1000 first ascents, all done on the lead (when I lead them.)...some of my friends rap bolt, and I'll follow them, but 98% of my first ascents were done on the lead........it's a silly game we play......it's fun for us......we are so old that just plain ol' climbing needs to be spiced up for us old geezers.....first ascents on the lead will do it.......

We had an awesome trip down to JT! Trip report to follow soon with tons of pics!

Todd, sorry for not being there for your slide show. We had some logistical issues with cars, campsite, rangers, and having to park my truck out at the backcountry trailhead since we could only have 2 cars in the campground. Note to self: reserve a campsite far in advance or avoid holiday weekends. :(

Eh, like 5 1/2 hrs. We went out towards Mojave and then south. There was no one on the 247 thru Apple Valley, so I was doing around 80-90mph. I shut off my headlights for a few miles, not at 80mph tho, since we had a full moon out. :) Little traffic too.

Tucker used to live 1/2 mile from me on the same street as me....but he has moved a few months ago, and now is a care-taker on a 100 acre piece of private property INSIDE Joshua Tree Nat. Park.......best location for a climber on the planet......there are 2 caretakers there...both climbers....and they have done over 400 first ascents in the last 3 years on the property......amazing motivation...and all the routes where climbed while they were intoxicated......powered by booze.......alcohol inspiration.....

Paul, I'm not sure. I know very little about what's happening this spring. My life is moving so fast right now, I can't say from here.

Todd, you climb when it's wet outside?!

We climbed in the rain;.l.it was actually snowing a little bit too...it was cold;....but we only did one climb....I had to replace a piton that was stolen (or fell out ) with a bolt....so it was a public service act too.....we had hike over an hour, and just set up a top rope....it was cold, uncomfortable, irritating, and wet.....but still ...a climbing day is a climbing day............

You can never have too many storage bins lying around the property ... for empties of course. One about every 5 feet seems right.

That photo of Tucker looks familiar to one of him from 20 years ago ...
I'm glad you guys got to climb yesterday. I'm so over bushwacking with no climb at the end of the scratchy rainbow ...
